Mac
Apple Silicon (M1 or later). About 300 MB with the speech model.
- Unzip and drag Sigel Dictate into Applications.
- Right-click it and choose Open the first time.
- In System Settings > Privacy & Security, turn it on under Accessibility and Input Monitoring, then reopen it.
Windows
Windows 10 or 11. The installer sets everything up, including Python if needed.
- Unzip, open the folder, and run Install Sigel Dictate.
- If Windows shows a warning, choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Look for the Σ near the clock when it finishes.
The first launch downloads the speech model (about 150 MB), so give it a minute on Wi-Fi. Your computer may warn you because Sigel Dictate is new and not yet code-signed. That's expected during early access.

Is it really free?
Yes. Sigel Dictate is free during early access, with no word limits.
Does my audio go anywhere?
No. Speech is transcribed on your computer with an open-source model. Nothing is uploaded, and it works with your internet turned off.
Which apps does it work in?
Any app where you can type: email, documents, chat, browsers, notes.
How do I stop it or quit?
Press ctrl + ` again to stop listening. To quit, click the Σ in your menu bar or system tray and choose Quit.
